About The Opportunity
This is an excellent temporary, full-time opportunity for up to 12 months, for a talented and qualified young professional, who is passionate about providing a safe and sustainable local traffic and transport network.
This is an entry level role and we are seeking someone with the passion and talent to grow and develop in the role, creating a long-term future and career with us.
Role Responsibilities Includes
* Assist in the provision of a safe and sustainable local traffic and transport network that ensures the needs of the community are met
* Use your critical thinking skills to research, investigate and analyse solutions or strategies in response to traffic or land use issues
* Provide effective, technically correct and pragmatic documentation and advice for projects and customer requests within formally agreed time frames, compliant with relevant standards
* Develop draft briefs for design of minor traffic engineering works
* Assist with the management of traffic/transport projects
* Assist in preparing draft grant applications for external funding of traffic and transport related works, studies and services
* Respond to customer requests relating to traffic and parking management issues.
Essential
Qualifications and experience
* Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent – or nearing completion by being enrolled in the final semester of study
* Strong analytical and communication skills
* Knowledge of applicable legislation and regulations
* Demonstrated commitment to customer service
* Ability to work in a team environment
* Current class "C" driver's licence.
Desirable
* Formal course completion in traffic engineering, transport planning, traffic modelling and road design
* Proficiency in CAD.
Remuneration And Benefits
The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council's Enterprise Agreement.
* Entry level for this position starts at $1,621.31 per week
* 35-hour working week
* Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
