About the Team
Digital Operations plays a key part in shaping the Digital Landscape the Commission uses to deliver on its objectives.
The Digital Operations Team contributes to the Section's objectives by ensuring the reliable and efficient functioning of the Commission's digital infrastructure and systems, utilising best practices in implementation, monitoring, maintenance, and end of life management. By optimising performance, reliability and resiliency, we support the delivery of services to the Commission's users.
About the Role
The Network Engineer is responsible for support, maintenance and uplift of our network infrastructure, systems and designs in a period of technological change. You will contribute to incident and request management, proactive network monitoring and contributing to network security.
You will utilise your knowledge and experience to assist the Commission in driving network stability, support and opportunities to improve. Contributing to incident and request management, proactive monitoring and project work, supporting and improving the experience for a rapidly growing, geographically diverse workforce.
Additionally, you will work closely with the infrastructure manager to manage our network hardware lifecycles and contribute to research and selection of new hardware when replacing outdated or retired components, as well as setting up new equipment at various sites across the country.
Position Duties
* Contribute to the investigation, diagnosis and resolution of network problems and provide advice on preventative strategies.
* Under broad direction to perform and achieve complex network engineering work.
* Work independently with the opportunity for reasonable autonomy and accountability for the achievement of outcomes of their work.
* Highlight perceived security risks to managers.
* Identify areas of risk and review the adequacy and effectiveness of the Commission's approach to risk in the use of ICT and offer appropriate suggestions to address the risk.
* Exercise both initiative and judgement in the interpretation of policy and in the application of practices and procedures.
* Produce concise technical systems documentation and knowledge artefacts supporting design and operational continuity.
* Liaise with internal and external agencies, including providers in relation to the design, delivery and support of network communications infrastructure.
* Assist in the maintenance of customer satisfaction and good relationships with providers.
* Input on system availability, capacity planning, usability and performance management
* Input on technical roadmaps and service improvement activities
* Advise on best practice implementation and security compliance of the Network Infrastructure
Position Eligibility Requirements (Selection Criteria):
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate the following:
* A bachelor's degree in computer science, IT, or a related field, or equivalent experience and training.
* Minimum CCNA certified, CCNP and/or CCIE desirable.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
* Ability to contribute to projects and initiatives, with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Experience in the design, maintenance, and implementation of complex ICT networks, with a strong track record across on-premises and hybrid cloud environments.
* Adept at developing structured procedures and conducting routine hardware/software installations and de-installations in enterprise environments.
* Demonstrated experience with gateway technologies, including remote access, and proxies.
* Demonstrated experience with Cisco switches, ISE and ASA's and Fortinet products
* Experienced in end-to-end configuration of routing, switching, and secure tunnelling within large-scale networks.
* Demonstrated experience in Azure networking services and hybrid cloud network development, integrating virtual and physical network components for seamless connectivity and scalability.
* Must be eligible to obtain a baseline clearance.
Position Notes:
* Salary offered will be between $96,503 - $108,869 per annum depending on skills and experience. In addition, 15.4% superannuation will be paid.

* Non-ongoing opportunity will be offered for an irregular/intermittent term. Opportunities will be offered for varying periods up to 12 months with the option to extend to a total of 24 months.
