Australia brisbane contract au$750 - au$950 per dayTalent International is searching for experienced Portfolio Assurance Analyst to join our client, a large provider of electricity transmission network services. This is an initial 4-month contract with a potential extension for another 3 months. This position based on the northside of Brisbane.
**About the Role**:
The Portfolio Assurance Analyst holds a pivotal role in ensuring and enabling the successful delivery of IT programs and projects that are part of a large IT portfolio of programs. This position provides specialist advice and support for IT Program and Project Management, while also assuming responsibility for overseeing project gating procedures.
The Portfolio Assurance Analyst also supports the continuous improvement of the portfolio, program & project management frameworks, procedures, and gating. The role collaborates with program and project managers, portfolio managers, and other stakeholders to provide guidance, advice, and coaching on portfolio assurance requirements, standards, and methodologies.
The Project Assurance Specialist conducts comprehensive compliance evaluations and offers training to enable IT project teams to comply with corporate governance requirements, and This includes supporting program and project teams with advice to ensure they are aware of gating and transition requirements early in the project lifecycle so all requirements can be incorporated into planning.
**Responsibilities**:
- Provide specialist advice towards the development and refinement of project management best practices.
- Take a lead role with senior leaders in Business IT to implement a comprehensive project gating process to assess project readiness at key milestones, ensuring that projects progress only when they meet predefined criteria, such as scope definition, resource allocation, and compliance with frameworks.
- Oversee IT gating on behalf of Business IT management to ensure IT projects align with the IT program & project management frameworks and procedures.
- Educate and coach project teams on gating requirements, associated frameworks, and procedural guidelines, emphasizing the importance of compliance at each stage of the project lifecycle. This may include providing direct training, running awareness campaigns, or participating in induction activities.
- Participate in project reviews and other associated assurance activities either with or behalf the Program and Project Management team.
- Assume responsibility for overseeing project gating procedures, ensuring that they are robust, clear, and effective in facilitating project progression while maintaining quality and compliance.
- Document best practices, lessons learned, and compliance-related processes, and actively participate in the continuous improvement of the portfolio management framework. This includes ensuring assurance processes being undertaken remain efficient and align with defined frameworks and roles and responsibilities.
- Prepare comprehensive reporting on behalf of Business IT and the IT portfolio. This includes but is not limited to financial reporting, program and project reporting and reporting relevant to end of month, quarter, or year.
**Skills and Experience Required**:
- Degree level qualification in a related field (e.g., Business, Information Technology, Project Management, Business Administration) or a lesser qualification combined with significant experience relevant to the role.
- Demonstrated experience in managing, analysing, and reporting on the quality assurance function of a program delivery environment.
- Significant experience in project compliance, project management, or a related role, with a proven track record of ensuring projects comply with frameworks and procedures.
- Demonstrated experience with project management principles, methodologies (e.g., PMI, Agile, PRINCE2), and best practices to assess project compliance against established criteria.
- Demonstrated experience and a commitment to continuous improvement, with experience in refining compliance processes, frameworks, and procedures based on lessons learned and evolving standards.
- Demonstrated experience in conducting compliance audits and quality assurance reviews, with a keen attention to detail.
- Demonstrated experience in risk assessment and mitigation strategies, including the ability to identify compliance risks and develop plans to address them.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills to effectively convey gating requirements, compliance expectations, and feedback to project teams and stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a team environment including the ability to collaborate across multi-disciplinary teams and customers producing successful outcomes.
