**About this role**
**Solicitor**
An ongoing position has become available in the DCS Legal Services team based at Parramatta Square.
Reporting to a Managing Lawyer, you will be providing high quality legal services to the Better Regulation Division of DCS in implementing consumer protection and occupational licensing legislation. Our key client areas regulate the provision of goods and services including in diverse industries such as retail, building, real estate and motor dealers and repairers. DCS also regulates many other activities including charitable fundraising and incorporated associations.
**Your key responsibilities will include**:
- Providing timely, high quality legal advice in criminal and civil matters across a range of legislation administered by DCS.
- Drafting documents including advices, pleadings, submissions and other court documents, preparing transactional documents, reviewing, drafting and negotiating documents, drafting briefing notes and correspondence.
- Conducting criminal prosecution and/or civil matters primarily in the Local Court, District Court and the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal and briefing and instructing counsel where appropriate.
- Providing timely, high quality legal advice in respect of priority investigation matters.
- Analysing and interpreting complex legislation and participating in legislative projects.
- Assisting clients and other key stakeholders on a range of matters by providing timely, high quality legal advice that supports those clients and key stakeholders.
- Contributing to the maintenance and update of systems, ensuring the integrity of data and consistency of legal services
- Assisting in developing and delivering guidance or training material to clients and key stakeholders
- In this role you will be working in a fast paced environment with competing priorities. You will be a team player who is willing to hit the ground running, who can work independently, is client focused and able to develop and implement innovative solutions.
**To be successful in this role you will demonstrate**:
- ** **Hold a current practising certificate in New South Wales
- Knowledge of two or more of the following: regulatory prosecutions in consumer protection law; criminal law; administrative law; and, NSW Court and tribunal practice and procedure
- Proven advocacy skills, or willingness and potential to develop those skills
- Proven negotiation, stakeholder management, interpersonal and communication skills

Salary Grade 7/8, with the base salary for this role starting at $101,947 base plus superannuation
