Reports to and receives operational instruction from the Site Manager.< Receives functional guidance from the Regional Workforce Services Manager.
**About the role**:
- Understanding and personally complying with Project environmental, safety and health philosophy, systems, and requirements.
- Works as part of a team to develop industrial and employee relations and communication systems to support an effective workforce onsite.
- Oversight on the recruitment and mobilization of site employees
- Proactive provision of advice and instruction (training) to Project professionals (staff) and craft professional (workforce) personnel in relation to employee relations matters, ultimately, working with supervision and professional craft performing work on the project to ensure consistency.
- Oversee the development of field training programs for professional craft employees and their supervisors. Develops and/or adapts existing training programs to cover specific working conditions, covering topics such as Workforce Services, dispute resolution, Project Work Rules awareness, diversity, working respectfully and other relevant procedures to support the Projects objectives. Supports Bechtel Legal representatives by developing documentation, if required, in support of industrial matters which may result in claims, industrial disputes, or cases documented by professional craft employees.
- Preparation of the Workforce Services component of the Project Orientation/Site Induction, collaborating with the Project HSE team in delivery.
- Represents Bechtel as a participant in any industrial committees, as approved and/or delegated by the Site Manager
- Industrial risk mitigation, including: development of industrial relations conditions for subcontracting; subcontracting strategy; industrial action contingency planning.
- Development & implementation of systems to minimize (industrial) risk associated with subcontracting the works & interface with Client contractors
- Responsible for implementing improvement of worker services programs at the site. Works with union representatives and subcontractors to form process improvement initiatives.
- Workplace Agreements & supporting systems including counselling / discipline, probation assessment & performance evaluation;
- In conjunction with the on-site HSE representatives, supporting the on-site implementation of Environmental, Safety and Health programs concerning direct professional craft employees.
- Development and Maintenance of Workforce Services performance statistics and logs.
- Other tasks as designated by the Site Manager.
**What you bring**:
The Employee Relations Manager shall be knowledgeable and/or experienced in:
- Major project construction Employee / Industrial Relations in a unionised environment.
- Ability to liaise with site non-manual personnel - all departments - to ensure effective implementation of Workforce Services systems.
- Working knowledge & understanding of Bechtel industrial / employment / training / manual craft employee systems and their implementation.
- Must have the right to work in Australia and Union experience preferred.
