The successful applicant will have the opportunity to develop high level teaching skills in a supportive environment to significantly improve the future of students at educational risk. You should be a teacher who aspires for academic excellence and is committed to high quality teaching and learning. Professional knowledge and understanding of trauma informed practice and supporting students' social and emotional wellbeing is preferred. A sound understanding of The Western Australian Curriculum and the Aboriginal Cultural Standards Framework will be critical to this role.
You will develop authentic and rich learning tasks, work with students to develop goals, apply a range of instruction and explicit teaching incorporating current and emerging technologies to meet the needs of our students. Teachers and School Administrators employed at Hedland SHS in 2026 are eligible to receive a temporary Attraction and Retention Incentive of $4 000 (pa, gross – to be adjusted pro rata for FTE and tenure). Eligible staff will receive a percentage of this payment on commencement at the school, with the remainder paid at the end of the school year. Staff must remain employed in the location until the end of the school year to be eligible to receive the second payment.
The temporary ARI payment is in addition to other incentives that may apply in this school.
