Lead the fixed‐wing engineering operations of one of Australia's most diverse aerial fleets supporting firefighting, agriculture and emergency response.

ABOUT THE ROLE
This permanent full time position is located at Parafield Airport, SA with potential interstate and international travel. Reporting to the Maintenance Controller, the Chief Engineer – Fixed Wing provides technical leadership for the fixed wing fleet and engineering team. With the Maintenance Controller and Maintenance Planner establishing the priorities for the Maintenance team this position works alongside the Chief Engineer, Rotary Wing and is supported by the Deputy Chief Engineer – this is a leadership role set up for success.
With over 20 fixed wing aircraft working Fire Bombing Seasons and an Agricultural Season no two days are the same, our fleet includes AT-802, AT-502, Cessna 182, Cessna C208, Cessna A188 and PA-32R-300.
Our LAMEs support an on‐call roster, approximately 1 weekend in 6. On‐call days are paid and, if you are required to work during the period of on‐call, those hours are paid at the appropriate penalty rates.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provide technical leadership to fixed wing engineering staff.
* Ensure compliance with CASA CAR30 requirements.
* Support fleet reliability and operational availability.
* Coordinate major maintenance and seasonal fleet readiness.
* Mentor apprentices and support licensing progression.
SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* CASA B1.1 license with extensive experience on Air Tractors.
* PT6 engine type rating preferred but not essential.
* 2 licencing would be highly regarded.
* High‐level aviation airworthiness regulatory knowledge.
* Understanding of relevant aircraft maintenance documentation and practices.
* Knowledge of and experience using Interactive Electronic Technical Publications.
* Act as a Job Coordinator during maintenance activities to meet the requirements of the CAR30 MOE and the issue of Maintenance Releases.
* ASIC Security Card (or able to attain).
* Knowledge of and experience using Aerotrack preferred but not essential.
