Flood Warning Network Database Administrator (FWIN)
Position Overview
The Bureau's Flood Warning Infrastructure Network (FWIN) Program is leading a $230 million Australian Government initiative to improve flood warning infrastructure in Australia's highest flood risk areas over 10 years. This will be done through the acquisition, upgrade and integration of existing local government‑owned, and some state government‑owned rain and river level flood gauges into the Bureau's flood warning network across Australia.
In support of the FWIN project, FWIN is seeking a Flood Warning Network Database Administrator who will undertake a key role in the quality management of the Bureau's flood data, in support of critical flood warning services and network management. They will work across various business areas within the Bureau to coordinate processes across the flood data value chain to support fit for purpose flood data and metadata for the FWIN program.
Responsibilities
- Perform routine network monitoring and quality control.
- Onboard stations and conduct investigations into data quality issues and network outages.
- Assist in the development and review of procedures and systems to optimise the delivery of flood data management services.
- Liaise with technical experts from across the Bureau and partner organisations on matters pertaining to effective and timely data management.
- Manage flood station metadata and data flows into downstream systems to ensure data quality is fit for purpose.

- Base pay range: A$94,563.00/yr - A$105,910.00/yr
