Principal Structural Engineer
KBR is proud to be the Principal Design Partner on the North Western Program Alliance (NWPA) a long‐standing partnership between the Level Crossing Removal Project (LXRP), Metro Trains Melbourne, KBR and John Holland. Established in 2017, NWPA has successfully delivered around $3B worth of transport infrastructure for the state and its communities. Off the back of this success, LXRP has awarded us a further five‐year extension, giving our team a strong and sustainable pipeline of major transport projects across Melbourne through to 2027. With Victoria's transport sector booming, joining KBR to work on NWPA is an exciting next step in your career. You'll help shape the community through city‐defining projects including Melbourne Airport Rail – Stage 1, and the Ruthven and Seaford level crossing removals, with more diverse projects already in development. These projects alone include six major viaduct‐style bridge designs, alongside a robust future program.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan, schedule and deliver structural engineering designs, adapting techniques and standards to suit complex challenges.
* Manage intricate design elements, including conflicting requirements, unconventional materials, and high‐coordination scenarios.
* Ensure all commercial, cost, safety and legal considerations are integrated into design specifications.
* Mentor and guide junior engineers, designers and drafters.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone with a bachelor's degree in structural engineering and extensive experience in infrastructure projects – ideally within a multidisciplinary environment. You will also bring:
