Job Title: Stroke Medicine Consultant
We are seeking a skilled Doctor of stroke medicine to fill this exciting consultancy post at the prestigious Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. This role provides unrivalled opportunities for practice, academia and research.
* This is a locum consultant position working flexible shifts, utilising a range of clinical skills including cardiovascular disease, general and geriatric medicine, rehabilitation and palliative care.
* You will be a pillar of clinical and educational support for junior doctors, helping patients adapt to the impact of their health problems following stroke and to manage their condition.
* Working closely with vascular surgeons and neurosurgeons, you will refer patients for surgery and increasingly with interventional neuroradiologists, referring patients for clot-retrieval therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
* To work as a locum consultant in stroke medicine providing acute care and rehabilitation services at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
* To utilise your clinical skills to assess and treat patients suffering from stroke related conditions.
* To provide clinical leadership and support to junior doctors, ensuring high standards of patient care.
* To participate in quality improvement initiatives and contribute to the development of clinical policies and guidelines.
Requirements:
* GMC Specialist registered Doctor with full licence to practice.
* Hold CCT or CESR at the time of interview or in an established training programme and within six months of CCT.
* Inclusion on GMC's Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT or CESR (CP) at interview.
* Relevant experience at consultant level, or references to support your transition up to Consultant level.
* Evidence of Right to Work in the UK.
* DBS check.
