At WES, our Ecology Team is a multidisciplinary group of highly qualified ecologists and Indigenous rangers dedicated to delivering professional environmental services underpinned by scientific integrity, cultural knowledge, and a commitment to Country. We integrate Western ecological science with Traditional Ecological Knowledge (TEK), working collaboratively to provide holistic, culturally informed environmental assessments and land management solutions.

The Opportunity
We are seeking passionate Ecologists at all levels—from graduates starting their careers to experienced professionals ready to lead projects. You will contribute to diverse ecological projects across Queensland, including:
* Regional ecosystem verification and vegetation assessments.
* Flora and fauna surveys, including threatened species identification.
* Fauna spotter catcher services and pre-clearance surveys.
* Pest and weed management planning, integrating traditional land management practices.
* Ecological monitoring, impact assessments, and compliance reporting.
Senior roles include project leadership, mentoring junior staff, and client engagement.
What We're Looking For
Graduate Level:
* Bachelor's degree in Ecology, Environmental Science, or related field.
* Strong interest in field ecology and sustainability.
Experienced/Senior Level:
* 3-5+ years in ecological consulting or similar industries.
* Proven skills in flora/fauna identification, ecological assessments, and GIS.
* Ability to lead field surveys and manage projects independently.
All applicants should have:
* Demonstrated knowledge of, or willingness to engage in collaborative approaches that unite scientific expertise with Traditional Ecological Knowledge.
* Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver projects that respect cultural protocols, achieve outcomes that are ecologically sound and culturally grounded, and integrate on-Country land management practices.
* Valid driver's license and willingness to travel.
Desirable Skills:
* Team leadership experience.
* Development of management plans and legislative applications (e.g., EPBC referrals).
