An exciting opportunity exists to join the Sub Acute Care Unit as a Senior Pharmacist. The role delivers high-level clinical pharmacy services as part of a multidisciplinary team, providing expert care to patients across Cairns, Gordonvale Hospital and SACU. Working with a high degree of independence, the position supports complex caseloads, promotes best practice, and provides leadership and supervision to pharmacists and students. Reporting to the Team Leader, travel across multiple sites is required.
About us:
The Cairns Hospital (CH) operates as a regional service hub within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service as well as for the surrounding Hospital and Health Services of Far North Queensland. The acute hospital services are provided over a broad range of clinical and clinical support services. Cairns Base Hospital is a gazetted teaching and referral hospital linked to James Cook University.
The Cairns Hospital Sub Acute Care Unit is a sub-acute unit (SACU) staffed by a skilled multidisciplinary team as part of the Cairns Hospital. The Sub Acute Care Unit is a 48-bed unit promoting recovery towards discharge home or to other post discharge options. The SACU unit provides rehabilitation, geriatric evaluation and mamangement, psychogeriatric and palliative care types. The unit has a number of beds providing specialist dementia care for those with behavioural support needs. SACU is located on a separate campus from the main hospital.
The SACU Unit operates under an integrated care model which fosters close collaboration and partnership with care providers across the care continuum, offering streamlined and patient focused care coordination at the transition between hospital and community.

About your role:
* Deliver a high level of clinical service within Cairns Hospital's Sub Acute Care Unit (SACU), in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards with infrequent need for direct supervision.
* Provide high level clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors, relevant service managers and other relevant stakeholders regarding professional standards and clinical service development.
* Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes within the clinical service area and actively participate in initiating, developing and implementing quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of clinical pharmacy services.
