Lead Financial Expert
We are seeking a skilled Lead Financial Expert to join our finance team.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of core financial responsibilities, drive excellence in financial operations and lead a small team.
You will be responsible for delivering high-quality financial reports, managing accounts receivable and benefit payment processes, reconciling investment portfolios, overseeing tax compliance, and championing systems and process improvement.
The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of financial and technical accounting, including Australian Accounting Standards, and proven experience preparing general purpose financial statements.
You will also have expertise in managing high-volume accounts receivable and benefit payment processes, solid understanding of fund and investment accounting, and experience with tax compliance.
A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline and CA or CPA qualification are required. You should have a minimum of 5 years' experience in financial account roles, with exposure to fund or investment accounting.
Demonstrated leadership experience, outstanding stakeholder engagement and communication skills across all levels and functions are essential.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Deliver Financial Reporting Excellence: Prepare high-quality financial reports in line with Australian Accounting Standards.
* Oversee Member Payments and Receivables: Manage high-volume accounts receivable and benefit payment processes.
* Manage Fund & Investment Accounting: Reconcile investment portfolios and monitor financial performance.
* Ensure Tax Compliance: Oversee BAS, FBT, and other tax obligations.
* Champion Systems and Process Improvement: Embrace change by supporting system upgrades and process improvements.
Desired Skills and Experience:
* A strong knowledge of financial and technical accounting, including Australian Accounting Standards.
* Proven experience preparing general purpose financial statements.
* Expertise in managing high-volume accounts receivable and benefit payment processes.
* Solid understanding of fund and investment accounting, including reconciliations and performance tracking.
* Experience with tax compliance, including BAS, FBT, and supporting tax advisory submissions.
* Skilled in financial systems, process improvement, and strengthening internal controls.
* Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to coach and develop teams.
* Outstanding stakeholder engagement and communication skills across all levels and functions.
Qualifications Required:
* A degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
* CA or CPA qualification (or nearing completion).
* A minimum of 5 years' experience in financial account roles, with exposure to fund or investment accounting.
* Comprehensive knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards, taxation requirements and financial compliance frameworks.
* Demonstrated experience using Workday, preferably, or other financial and accounting systems.
