We provide strategic consultation, bringing global value perspective, negotiation and delivery to maximize purchasing power of supplier spend and to free up investment capacity through deeper partnerships with our Business Units.Strategic Sourcing & Business Enablement (SS&BE) is also responsible for managing our supplier strategy with our business partners, identifying, and on-boarding new suppliers, realizing significant cost saves and revenue generation, collaborating with the Source to Contract team and ensuring an optimal user experience for Amex colleagues and suppliers.The Procurement Associate support strategic sourcing and category plans in commodities such as Data, Marketing and Professional Services across Australia and New Zealand.The role is required to collaborate with a team of Procurement colleagues in Sydney and remote based resources across the region and globally to identify and deploy strategies that will best achieve the business needs.The role is expected to leverage market intelligence in the pursuit of optimizing supply alternatives and opportunities from competitive cost and high-quality service.Key ResponsibilitiesAnalyse spend patterns, using market analysis, and benchmarking to identify cost savings opportunities and implement best practices to enhance efficiencyIdentify, collaborate and execute on agreed sourcing and category plan strategies with Business Partners, ensuring alignment with Amex policies and regulatory requirementsLead sourcing activities, including commercial negotiations, across multiple business units and markets, that have a major impact on American Express’ expense, revenue and profitabilityConduct meetings and provide regular updates in support of procurement activity and ensure project timelines and deliverables are met, to the relevant parties (including suppliers, local/regional/global GSM team and key stakeholders)Lead or participate in cross markets/regional initiatives as defined by GSM leadershipRequired SkillsPrevious experience in ProcurementOperating knowledge of contract law, local/regional/global sourcing strategies, risk management, vendor due diligence, supplier development and complex negotiations skillsStrong project management skills and financial experience, including development of cost benefit analysis and financial models used to develop insights and recommendations, solve business challenges, improve the customer experience, and drive bottom line results through cost savings and value-add opportunitiesStrong communication (verbal and written)Relationship building skills, with the ability to proactively manage a diverse number of internal stakeholder and external supplier relationships, across multiple categories at onceWe back our colleagues and their loved ones with benefits and programs that support their holistic well-being.
