Job Description:

The Senior Scientist and Curator, Vertebrate Zoology will undertake original research and collection development in a field of expertise relevant to terrestrial vertebrate zoology. This includes herpetology, mammalogy or ornithology, as well as contributing to the development of exhibitions and innovative public programs in accordance with the strategic priorities of Queensland Museum.

You will work closely with Terrestrial Biodiversity Curators and Collection Managers within the Biodiversity and Geosciences Program. You will have curatorial oversight of the Herpetology, Mammalogy and Ornithology collection areas, and take a lead in coordinating animal ethics applications by relevant staff.

This is a permanent and flexible full-time position with flexible working hours. The role description outlines any qualifications, licences and specific requirements of the role. To be successful in this role, you will need:

* A strong background in vertebrate zoology, including herpetology, mammalogy or ornithology.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders.
* A high level of organisational and time management skills.
* An understanding of animal ethics principles and practices.
