Role Overview
This role owns the operational technology environment end to end, spanning cloud platforms, infrastructure, modern workplace services and support operations. You will lead platform ownership, provide escalation leadership and guide engineering decisions across core services, ensuring operational performance, stability and scalability align to business priorities. Azure forms a strategic component of the cloud environment alongside broader infrastructure and workplace platforms.
A key focus of the position is uplifting service delivery maturity and operational capability. You will assess current state processes, identify risk and improvement opportunities and implement structured uplift across tooling, monitoring, support models and service governance. This includes enhancing reporting visibility, strengthening operational controls and establishing more proactive delivery rhythms across the function.
The role also plays an important part in modernising the end user environment. You will identify opportunities to improve how employees engage with technology through workplace uplift, automation and platform optimisation initiatives where appropriate. The objective is to create a more efficient, scalable and business aligned operations function capable of supporting organisational growth.
Responsibilities
* Own cloud, infrastructure and modern workplace platforms end to end.
* Lead operational uplift initiatives across monitoring, tooling and platform performance.
* Drive maturity across ITSM practices including incident, change and problem management.
* Oversee Microsoft 365, endpoint management and identity services environments.
* Govern and optimise Azure cloud services including performance, security and cost management.
* Mentor and lead service delivery and systems engineering resources.
* Manage vendors, contracts, SLAs and service performance outcomes.
* Establish operational reporting across service metrics, incidents and platform health.
* Improve documentation, knowledge sharing and environment governance practices.
* Identify legacy constraints and lead structured modernisation initiatives.
Candidate Profile
You bring more than ten years infrastructure or IT Operations experience, supported by proven team leadership and strong commercial awareness. You are comfortable leading teams, managing vendors and driving operational accountability while remaining technically hands on when required. Your background reflects ownership of service performance, cost frameworks and delivery outcomes.
Technically, you are grounded in systems engineering or administration and bring capability across cloud, workplace and infrastructure ecosystems. Experience across Microsoft 365, endpoint management, identity services and operational platforms is essential, with Azure forming a key component of the environment. Exposure to AWS or GCP is considered transferable where supported by broader infrastructure depth.
