The Opportunity
Join the Communications in Health Professions Education unit (COHPE) within the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing, and Health Sciences. Monash University is seeking an enthusiastic lecturer to enhance clinical communication skills and academic language programs for medical students (international and domestic) undertaking clinical placements.
You will collaborate with the COHPE team to create engaging educational experiences for students on medical placements at the Eastern Health Clinical School (EHCS) clinical sites. Responsibilities include developing course materials, delivering lectures and tutorials, and crafting personalized learning plans for students in clinical communication, oral and written language development, and studying within clinical contexts.
You will work with clinical and administrative staff and travel to clinical placement sites within the clinical school (primarily Box Hill, Maroondah, and Angliss Hospitals). You will also interact with Faculty and COHPE staff based at Monash Clayton campus.
Responsibilities
- Develop unique course materials for clinical communication and language development
- Deliver lectures and tutorials to medical students on placement
- Craft personalized learning plans for students in clinical contexts
- Collaborate with clinical and administrative staff across sites
Qualifications
- First degree and postgraduate qualification in applied linguistics or related fields
- Extensive teaching experience in interactional oral communication, particularly in health professional contexts
- Strong track record in team-based environments
- Experience in medical contexts is an advantage
Work Environment and Travel
Versatile and hybrid working arrangements are supported. Travel to EHCS clinical sites will be required.
