Job Overview
The Property Underwriter plays a vital role in contributing to the achievement of departmental, branch, and corporate objectives related to profit, growth, service provision, and client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Portfolio Management
o Develop and implement effective portfolio analysis strategies to optimize profit and retention.
o Collaborate with internal stakeholders regarding portfolio management strategy and maintain consistency with brokers.
o Monitor and report on the status of open claims for assigned accounts.
* Underwriting Excellence & Compliance
o Adhere to underwriting, compliance, and file documentation standards and workflows.
o Evaluate and accept or decline new lines, renewals, and endorsements.
* Business Development
o Achieve individual producer targets as specified in goals/business plans.
o Develop and implement an effective business development strategy to prospect for new business across sectors, products, and broker segments.
* Broker and Key Account Relationships
o Manage broker and key account relationships through proactive communication and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
o Visit producers to discuss risks, communicate market opportunities, and generate new business.
* Team Collaboration
o Work with colleagues to promote and foster effective teamwork.
Qualifications
* Required Skills & Experience:
o Demonstrable ability to identify and implement innovative solutions to complex underwriting situations.
o Subject matter expertise in pricing techniques, alternative risk transfer, and reserve development.
o Familiarity with competitor products and services.
