Responsibilities
- Provide a social work service to patients and their carers in the Community Assessment Unit, the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit.
- Complete psychosocial assessments; provide counselling around adjustment to illness, crisis and bereavement support; crisis intervention; referral to community services; and discharge planning.
- Plan, coordinate and apply clinical expertise to provide high quality counselling, advocacy and therapeutic care in accordance with NSW Health and SESLHD policies, procedures and standards.

Where you'll be working
Prince of Wales Hospital and Community Health Service is a Level 6 tertiary referral hospital with a large inpatient and outpatient service. POWH provides extensive services including emergency and intensive care, and has transitioned many units to the Acute Services Building (ASB).
Selection Criteria
- Qualifications in accordance with Schedule C of the NSW Health Service Health Professionals (State) Award; eligibility for AASW
- Extensive postgraduate clinical experience in relevant specialty area, including crisis intervention
- Excellent negotiation, decision-making and advocacy skills with a diverse range of stakeholders
- Ability to provide education to enhance service delivery and supervise others
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team with advanced reasoning and independent skilled judgement
- Ability to initiate and lead quality improvement initiatives
- Ability to plan and prioritise own and team work
- Current driver’s licence or willingness to travel; availability for After Hours Crisis On-Call and seven-day roster
