Job Description:
We are seeking an exceptional experimental physicist to enhance our strengths in gravitational wave detection and contribute to a dynamic research environment. The successful candidate will work alongside the other members of the physics discipline at the University of Adelaide.
The role involves a continuing position, full time opportunity, and we are looking to add to and/or augment areas of existing strengths in experimental physics around gravitational wave detection.
Physics at the University has broad interests in experimental physics. The University hosts the Australian Research Centre for Excellence in Gravitational Wave Discovery (OzGrav) and the ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science.
The group forms a major part of the university-funded Institute of Photonics and Advanced Sensing (IPAS), and has strong research programs in quantum materials and lasers. Close collaboration with theorists is actively encouraged.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
* A PhD in experimental physics or equivalent higher degree in an area that aligns with and/or augments existing and emerging strengths in experimental physics.
* A commitment to excellence in relevant areas of experimental physics, particularly in gravitational wave discovery and detection.
* Demonstrated publication track record in leading academic journals.
* A strong interest in quality undergraduate education.
* Experience in supervision of graduate students.
* Demonstrated ability to conduct independent research and work effectively as a member of a research team.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
* Very good organisational and management skills.
* Advanced analytic and computational skills.
Benefits:
* An employer contribution of 17% superannuation applies.
* Opportunities for professional development and growth.
* A dynamic and supportive research environment.
Others:
The Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology is a multidisciplinary hub of cutting-edge teaching and research. Many of its academic staff are world leaders in their fields and graduates are highly regarded by employers.
We welcome applications from candidates who are passionate about experimental physics and committed to delivering high-quality research and education.
