Thisis a Recruitment Pool for Fixed Term Full Time and Fixed Term Part Time appointments for 6-12 months with the possibility of extension(s).
Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments may be made when similar vacancies occur. Appointments may be made from this pool until 31/10/2026.
Position Profile
Successful applicants will be part of a busy team working with the support of 11 general paediatricians who are enthusiastic teachers and mentors. FSH has a 24 bed paediatric ward and daily outpatient clinics, all supported by a team of allied health professionals. Fiona Stanley Hospital has one of the busiest Emergency Department in the country with a separate children's emergency department with attached 4 bed observation ward that sees 26,000 children/year.
FSH has a busy outpatient service with general paediatrics, paediatric subspecialties of neurology, nephrology, gastroenterology, respiratory, endocrinology and immunology. A multidisciplinary feeding team provides some support for complex outpatient paediatric feeding disorders. We have full access to radiology services including paediatric general anaesthetic MRI and other paediatric specific investigations, as well as electroencephalogram (EEG) services. We have an active medical simulation (SIM) program that crosses disciplines. We host University of Notre Dame (UDM) and Curtin medical students.
We are accredited for advanced trainees as General Paediatrics (No Perinatal, Acute care (ED)) and basic trainees for General Paediatrics, Neonates and Emergency. Up to 27 months of the 36 months of Basic Training may be undertaken at FSH and up to 12 months (Core) of Advanced training (6/12 general paediatrics without perinatal and 6/12 Acute care (ED)). We host RACP Clinical Examination and have two Directors of Paediatric Education (DPE).
