Chief Learner Experience Office – Ballarat or Berwick Campus

Full‑time, fixed‑term appointment until December 2026. Salary range: HEW 6 – $95,177 p.a. plus up to 17 % superannuation.


About the role

You will increase exposure and enhance the reputation of Federation University through coordinated external and internal communication activities. You will be a key contact for matters related to media and communications, lead local media engagement and work on strategic communications planning as part of the Corporate Communications team. You will work between various University and TAFE campuses and may be required to work after hours and/or weekends.


Responsibilities

* Coordinate proactive media opportunities to promote and build the reputation of Federation University and TAFE.
* Handle reactive media enquiries by drafting timely and strategic responses to protect Federation's reputation.
* Contribute collaboratively to a media and communications calendar ensuring the coordinated promotion of campaigns, announcements and events.
* Support the creation of engaging internal communications to staff across a range of delivery platforms.


About you

You will have demonstrated media and communications experience which includes writing and editing media releases, news stories, EDMs, corporate documents and digital content, with strong attention to spelling, grammar, punctuation, plain English, tone and brand style.


Qualifications

* Experience in dealing with proactive and reactive media.
* Strong news judgement, with a proven ability to identify strong story angles and timely news hooks.
* Communication and presentation skills with some experience in social media, photography and video production.
* Organisational skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks, collate material from several sources and produce a range of content within competing deadlines.
* Ability to work as part of a team, build relationships and work collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders.
