APS4 Claims Support Officer

About the Role
We are seeking detail-oriented and motivated Claims Support Officers to join a high-performing team within a government-focused environment. In this role, you will support the processing and assessment of compensation claims for individuals with service-related injuries or health conditions. You will work in a structured, policy-driven environment handling sensitive information, contributing to fair and timely outcomes for clients.
Key Responsibilities
* Receive, review, and document claims in accordance with legislative and policy guidelines
* Manage inbound and outbound calls with clients and their authorised representatives in a professional manner
* Create and maintain accurate client records using internal records management systems
* Research, analyse, and assess complex or sensitive information to support claim determinations
* Liaise with clients and stakeholders to gather additional information and provide updates on claim progress
* Conduct initial eligibility assessments and prepare claims for further determination
* Process and approve claim‐related invoices, including reimbursements and provider payments
* Collaborate with internal teams to verify information and support decision‐making
* Manage shared inbox workflows, including allocation of claims and correspondence
* Process requests for claim withdrawals in line with procedures
* Maintain a strong understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and claims processes
* Support onboarding and mentoring of new team members
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across systems and processes
Skills & Experience Required
* Experience in claims processing, case management, or administrative support (government, insurance, or healthcare preferred)
* Strong understanding of working within legislation, policy, and compliance frameworks
* Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in record‐keeping
* Ability to manage sensitive and confidential information with integrity
* Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills, particularly when handling complex cases
* Effective communication skills, including stakeholder engagement and client interaction
* Experience using case management or records management systems
* Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
* Team‐oriented mindset with a willingness to share knowledge and support others

Casual Loading
Please note for all Australian based contract and temporary roles only, the pay rate is inclusive of mandatory 25% casual loading. This excludes permanent and fixed term roles.
