The vision for South Eastern Sydney Local Health District (SESLHD) is. SESLHD is committed to enabling our community to be healthy and well, and to providing the best possible compassionate care when people need it.
A clinician at this level will exercise professional judgement in accordance to their years of experience. They will provide high quality clinical services to eligible clients within a health promoting philosophy that incorporates assessing oral health needs, diagnosis and care planning, the provision of preventive, restorative, periodontal and palliative care and working with groups and communities to promote oral health. These services will be provided in a wide range of settings; mentoring and support will be provided dependant on individual skills and qualifications.
Employment of a temporary visa holder may only occur if no suitable permanent resident or citizen of Australia has been identified for this position following suitable labour market testing.
All workers and new recruits are required to receive 2 doses of a Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccine to commence employment/ engagement or continue to work within a NSW Health service.
A worker and new recruit will be considered compliant if they have a medical contraindication to all available Therapeutic Goods Administration approved or recognised COVID-19 vaccines and provide medical contraindication evidence in line with the policy requirements.
In addition, all Category A workers and new recruits are required to receive one dose of the seasonal influenza vaccine annually to be considered compliant.
Category A workers and new recruits who are non-compliant with seasonal influenza vaccination or have a medical contraindication to influenza or COVID-19 vaccinations must comply with all other infection control risk reduction strategies as directed while working in a Category A position.
1. Unrestricted registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as an Oral Health Therapist with extended adult scope.
2. Demonstrated clinical experience and ability to exercise professional judgment commensurate with years of experience.
3. Demonstrated knowledge of best practice oral health clinical care practices and infection control standards.
4. Demonstrated evidence of participating in oral health promotion/population health programs and an understanding of evidenced based approaches to preventing dental disease.
5. Highly developed interpersonal/communication skills and experience working effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
6. Demonstrated ability to contribute to and participate in quality improvement activities.
7. Demonstrated organisational and time management skills.
8. Ability and willingness to travel for work purposes. This may involve travel to various locations with the Local Health District to provide oral health outreach services to areas in need.
