About The Role
We're seeking a motivated
Workshop Manager
to oversee the daily operations of our busy steel fabrication workshop.
You'll manage a team of qualified fabricators and apprentices, ensuring that all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standard - in line with Australian Standards and company quality systems.

training required
to help you get up to speed with our workshop systems, processes, and procedures.
This is a hands-on leadership role that combines technical expertise, team coordination, and mentoring responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, supervise, and mentor workshop staff and apprentices
* Manage fabrication schedules, workflow, and resource allocation
* Oversee welding, fabrication, and assembly processes in accordance with standards
* Ensure compliance with AS/NZS 5131, AS/NZS 1554.1, AS/NZS 1554.6, and ISO 9001
* Conduct quality inspections and maintain fabrication documentation
* Manage workshop materials, stock, and equipment maintenance
* Promote a strong safety culture and maintain WHS compliance
* Liaise with clients, suppliers, and project managers on job progress and priorities
About You
You're an experienced tradesperson or supervisor who enjoys leading by example - combining technical know-how with people management and mentoring skills.
Essential Skills & Experience
* Trade qualification in fabrication, Boilermaking, or similar
* Proven experience in a workshop management or supervisory role
* Strong knowledge of structural steel fabrication and relevant standards
* Familiarity with AS/NZS 5131, AS/NZS 1554.1, AS/NZS 1554.6, and ISO 9001 systems
* Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel for reporting, scheduling, and documentation
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and welding symbols
* Excellent communication, leadership, and organisational skills
* Commitment to developing apprentices and building team capability
* Current driver's licence
Desirable
* Welding Supervisor certification (AS 1796 or equivalent)
* Forklift and/or HR licence
* Experience using workshop or production management software
