Posted: 13 June
Offer description

Ranger Grade 1/2 – two roles available: one ongoing role located in Lane Cove and one temporary role until April 2027 located in Mosman.

Package includes salary, depending on experience: $74,213 – $114,627, plus employer's contribution to superannuation and a 17% loading for working weekends and public holidays.

About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service offers Rangers the opportunity to join the Greater Sydney team and contribute to conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna, and Aboriginal heritage within the NPWS Greater Sydney Branch.

As a Ranger you will provide effective management of natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage by undertaking, coordinating and supervising projects, conducting environmental assessments, liaising with visitors and stakeholders, and performing field-based activities including burn planning, wildfire management, and law enforcement.

The role offers diversity, flexibility, and autonomy. Strong communication skills will help tackle evolving priorities across various estates. Outdoor duties such as pest, weed, and fire management, consulting, and coordination will be balanced by indoor tasks like compiling reports and submissions.

You will form professional relationships with Traditional Owners, commonwealth and state agencies, and stakeholders. You will also help create a positive, safe, diverse, and inclusive culture, enabling visitors from all walks of life to experience the parks.

About you

You have expertise in natural land management strategies and are a confident decision‐maker who can think on your feet. You thrive in a collaborative environment where teamwork and supporting the growth of others are priorities. Your passion, energy, and physical fitness will help you succeed in this dynamic, fast‐paced role.

This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the necessary skills and qualifications to manage NSW's natural places. Applicants must meet a specific medical assessment and obtain a fitness clearance for firefighters within 12 months if relevant.

Essential requirements

* A degree or equivalent relevant to the field operations of the Agency.
* Current Australian Class C Driver's licence or equivalent and ability to operate four‐wheel‐drive vehicles.
* Requirement to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
* Willingness to fly in light aircraft and readiness to be involved in incident management duties including firefighting.

What we can offer you

* Accrued days off in addition to annual leave.
* Corporate wellbeing programs, including a fitness passport.
* Learning and development opportunities, including in‐house training.

Equity and Diversity

We are committed to building a workforce that represents and serves the diverse communities of New South Wales. We welcome applicants from all ages, genders, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, people with disabilities, the LGBTQI+ community, and people from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
