A well‑established, values‑driven organisation based in Palmerston is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to manage end‑to‑end payroll operations and ensure accuracy, compliance, and timely payment for employees.

About the Role
Reporting to senior leadership, the Payroll Specialist will be responsible for the accurate and compliant delivery of payroll services, acting as a trusted point of contact for payroll enquiries and supporting continuous improvement in payroll processes.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver end‑to‑end payroll processing in line with relevant legislation, industrial instruments, and organisational policies
* Maintain accurate employee payroll records, including leave, allowances, deductions, and superannuation
* Interpret and apply employment conditions, awards, and agreements
* Ensure compliance with taxation, superannuation, and statutory reporting requirements
* Respond to payroll queries from employees in a timely and professional manner
* Prepare payroll reports and assist with audits and reconciliations
* Support payroll system maintenance, testing, and process improvements
* Work collaboratively with finance and people teams to ensure data integrity
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience in an end‑to‑end payroll role, around 200-250 employees.
* Strong knowledge of Australian payroll legislation and compliance requirements
* High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and confidentiality
* Strong organisational and time‑management skills
* Ability to confidently explain payroll matters to employees
* Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Office (particularly Excel)
* Experience working with awards, agreements, or complex payroll structures
* Exposure to education or not‑for‑profit payroll environments (advantageous but not essential)
Experience with payroll reporting and reconciliations

Qualifications
Essential
* Relevant payroll, accounting, or finance experience
