About Cadia
Our Cadia Valley Operation in New South Wales is situated about 25 kilometres from Orange and 250 kilometres west of Sydney.
Cadia produces gold doré bars from a gravity circuit and gold‑rich copper concentrates from a flotation circuit. The operation includes the Cadia East Mine which is globally renowned for its use of block caving.
We acknowledge the Wiradjuri people, traditional custodians of the land surrounding Cadia, and run an Indigenous Buddy Program to enrich the workplace experience for our Indigenous employees. With a residential (drive‑in / drive‑out) mine, Cadia values community deeply, offering both financial and in‑kind support to organisations across the surrounding townships.
Who we're looking for
We are seeking an Electrical Technician – Shutdown to join our Electrical Maintenance department at Cadia. This person will ensure safe and on‑time shutdown maintenance activities within Cadia. Reporting to the Electrical Supervisor, you will work within our Major Hazard, Critical Control framework to ensure assets are maintained to allow the mine to achieve desired production targets.
Key Responsibilities
* Demonstrate, support and encourage alignment with the Newmont values and practices.
* Ensure all Electrical Shutdown maintenance activities including tasks for minor and major maintenance are executed safely, timely and cost‑efficiently.
* Seek continuous improvement opportunities and perform analysis of maintenance plans and optimisation strategies.
* Liaise with Long‑Term planner and engineering to ensure strategies are in place for all electrical equipment as per the Electrical Maintenance Strategy Guideline and are setup in SAP.
* Assist with the planning and management of off‑site rebuilds / repairs of electrical equipment.
* Assist on the process of raising emergent work or cancelling work from shutdowns.
Qualifications
* NSW Electrical Supervisor Certificate
* Medium level computer skills
* Experience using SAP (CMMS)
* Excellent communication skills
* High Voltage Switching Qualifications (desirable)
Please note: This is a permanent role based in Orange, NSW on a 5D/2X roster or 9DFN.
