Overview
Start dates: 30th March or 7th April for an 8‐12 week placement. Flights and free accommodation are covered. Locum rates up to $75 per hour, plus superannuation and optional living‐away-from‐home allowances. Return flights reimbursed up to $1200.
Role
Experienced Social Worker required for a remote 60‐bed hospital in the Northern Territory. The role is a sole Social Work position requiring high level skills and demonstrated cultural competence with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations. The workplace encounters high incidences of domestic and family violence, child neglect and abuse reporting, and statutory child removal.
Responsibilities
* Provide clinical social work services within the hospital setting (emergency department, acute wards, inpatient, general medical, surgical, palliative care, rehabilitation, maternity and paediatrics).
* Conduct domestic and family violence risk assessment, safety planning and support services.
* Work with child protection concerns, mandatory reporting and liaise with relevant agencies.
* Respond to crisis situations (adult and paediatric), sexual violence, guardian matters and advocacy.
* Support NDIS applications.
* Work extended hours including weekends, after‐hours shifts and on‐call duties.
* Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of clinicians, including Director, Team Leaders, SWs, DTs, OTs, PTs, SPs, AHAs, ALOs and Admin staff.
* Maintain eligibility for AASW membership.
* Hold a valid driving licence.
Qualifications & Requirements
* At least 1 year of paid hospital experience as a clinical social worker.
* Experience in domestic and family violence risk assessment and safety planning.
* Experience in child protection and mandatory reporting.
* Strong crisis response skills, especially for victims of domestic and sexual violence.
* Eligibility for AASW membership.
* Overseas trained social workers must have qualifications assessed by the AASW.
