The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Marketing & Communications Officer to join our team in a part-time, casual role. This is a flexible, work-from-home position, ideal for a recent graduate or early-career communicator who wants real responsibility, meaningful work, and exposure to an exceptional network.
You’ll help tell the story of the work we do and the people we work with, amplifying ideas, voices and projects that are shaping Greater Hobart’s future.
What You’ll Be Doing
Communications & Storytelling:
* Help bring CfGH’s work to life through clear, engaging communications
* Support content across our website, newsletters and social media channels
* Assist with drafting posts, articles, event summaries and updates
* Help translate complex ideas into accessible stories for a broad audience
* Work with and amplify a wide range of voices across the region, from young people and creatives to business and community leaders
Social Media & Marketing:
* Support day-to-day management and growth of CfGH’s social media presence
* Assist with content planning, scheduling and performance tracking
* Help promote events, reports and campaigns
* Contribute ideas to grow our reach, engagement and impact
Brand & Strategy:
* Assist with a refresh of the CfGH brand, including tone, messaging and visual assets
* Support the evolution of our Communications Strategy
* Help ensure consistency across platforms and materials while keeping things human and authentic
Events & Engagement:
* Support communications and promotion for events, forums and roundtables
* Assist with registrations, logistics and follow-up communications
* Help capture and share event outcomes through posts, short write-ups and visuals
About You
We’re looking for someone who:
* Writes clearly and confidently, with good attention to detail
* Is experienced in using social media and digital tools
* Can work independently and manage their time well
* Is interested in cities, place, culture, community or public policy
* Enjoys working with people and ideas
It’s a bonus (but not essential) if you:
* Have studied communications, marketing, media, journalism, design or a related field
* Have experience with tools like Canva, Mailchimp or WordPress
* Have basic photography, video or design skills
* Are interested in events or creative industries
