As part of the Major Projects team, you will report to the Associate Director and play a key role in the end to end delivery of major and complex capital works initiatives. You will manage projects through the full infrastructure lifecycle- from early planning and business case development through to design, procurement, construction and handover.
You will contribute to priority capital investments supporting Youth Justice, Justice (Courts) and Intensive Therapeutic Care services. These programs focus on safety, compliance, sustainability and the creation of fit for purpose environments that support frontline service delivery across NSW.

What You'll Do
In this role you will manage a portfolio of capital works projects within an approved Major Capital Works Program, overseeing activities across multiple sites and stages of delivery. You will lead projects through the full project lifecycle including scoping, feasibility assessments, planning, design development, procurement, construction, commissioning and final handover. You will manage project budgets, schedules, and deliverables to ensure alignment with approved business cases, funding requirements, and government priorities.
You will prepare high quality reporting, preparing high quality project updates, risk and issue reporting, decision papers and briefing material for senior executives and formal governance forums. You will monitor and actively manage risks, issues, interdependencies and changes, ensuring they are accurately captured, escalated and communicated. You will oversee procurement activities, including engagement and management of consultant's contractors and suppliers in accordance with NSW Government procurement and infrastructure delivery frameworks.
You will work closely with internal stakeholders, external delivery partners, and service operators to ensure capital projects meet functional, operational, and compliance requirements.
This role combines strategic oversight, with hands on delivery, and provides exposure to large scale capital planning governance and investment decision making.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking an experienced Senior Project Officer with 5–8 years' experience delivering complex commercial, group homes or major infrastructure projects from initiation through to delivery within government or commercial environments. Experience operating within tight funding parameters, defined governance frameworks and multi- stakeholder delivery environments is highly regarded.
To succeed in this role, you will be comfortable leading multidisciplinary teams and managing competing priorities across planning, design and construction phases. We are looking for someone who has strong capability in procurement, contract administration and the management of external consultants and contractors. Your communication style will enable you to build credibility and adapt your approach to suit a range of stakeholders, environments and project challenges.
You will be analytical, organised and resilient, with strong problem-solving skills and a commitment to delivering safe, value for money outcomes
