Our client is seeking a highly strategic, commercially minded leader to oversee and drive growth initiatives across two portfolio businesses. This is a great opportunity to lead a small team of high-calibre ex-consultants and partner directly with senior leadership to deliver tangible business impact.
The Head of Strategy will be responsible for identifying and executing growth opportunities, shaping business priorities, and ensuring that both businesses achieve sustainable, top-line growth. The role is hands-on, with a focus on translating strategy into action while developing and mentoring a talented team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead strategic planning and growth initiatives across both businesses, with a focus on organic revenue growth.
* Partner with senior leadership teams to identify key growth drivers and create actionable plans to unlock potential.
* Oversee projects such as online channel development, range simplification, pricing and loyalty optimisation, and commercial capability uplift.
* Manage and mentor a team of strategy professionals, fostering collaboration and enabling cross-functional project delivery.
* Translate complex business problems into clear recommendations for the executive team.
* Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and operational performance to inform strategic decisions.
* Support execution by coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure strategies are delivered effectively.
Key Requirements:
* Extensive top tier strategy consulting background with a track record of driving growth initiatives, ideally including experience in corporate strategy or private equity advisory.
* Strong commercial acumen with the ability to quickly understand business P&Ls and growth levers.
* Hands-on approach with the capability to work alongside business teams to activate strategic initiatives.
* Experience managing and developing high-performing teams, ideally made up of ex-consultants.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence senior leadership and drive alignment across teams.
* Self-starter with high energy and willingness to contribute beyond standard hours when needed.
Team & Structure:
* The role will manage a small team currently comprising one consultant for PFD and two for Petstock, with the potential to flex resources across both businesses.
* The Head of Strategy will report to the Group Executive, working closely with business MDs to ensure alignment and successful execution.
