Essential
1. Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent*.
2. Formal qualifications in health, welfare, social work, alcohol & other drugs or related area at a TAFE/institute level or above or substantial experience in any of these areas.
3. Demonstrated experience working in, and/or understanding and commitment to the principles of primary health care and/or alcohol and other drug services.
4. Previous experience working with community controlled organisations, Aboriginal clients and capacity to communicate with Aboriginal communities and services.
5. Effective written and verbal communication skills, including proficiency in the use of computer software applications for word processing, internet and e-mail.
6. Demonstrated understanding of the drug and alcohol issues and needs of Aboriginal individuals, families and communities.
7. Self-motivation and the capacity to work with minimal supervision.
8. Drivers licence and willingness to travel overnight within the region if required.
Desirable:
1. Knowledge of current issues related to AOD treatment philosophies and treatment strategies.
2. Networking and referral experience
