MANAGER AND POSITION TITLE
You will report to a Client Manager and will work in a team with other Accountants, Senior Accountants and Supervisors. Your position title will be Junior or Undergraduate Accountant. We are looking for this position to be part time, for example 2 or 3 days per week.
JOB DESCRIPTION
The Junior Tax Accountant will support the tax team in preparing and filing tax returns, assisting with tax planning and research, and providing high-quality service to our clients. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in accounting principles, excellent analytical skills, and a keen interest in developing their tax expertise.
Key Responsibilities INCLUDE
* Assist in the preparation and filing of individual, corporate, partnership, and trust tax returns
* Work closely with clients to gather necessary information and documents for tax return preparation, ensuring accuracy and completeness
* Conduct tax research and assist in developing tax planning strategies to optimize clients’ tax positions
* Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations
* Assist in the preparation and review of financial statements and related reports
* Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations and participate in ongoing training and professional development activities
* Always follow Firm policies and procedures
* Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and service quality
* Liaise with the ATO and other regulatory bodies on behalf of clients when requested
* Handle compliance and administrative tasks, including client record maintenance and data entry
* Liaise with clients to answer queries, provide regular updates and proactively request documents and information to ensure that jobs are completed promptly
* Accurately complete a detailed timesheet each week.
Requirements
* Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (either completed or currently working towards)
* 1 - 2 years of experience in public accounting or tax preparation is preferred, but not required
* Familiarity with tax software (e.g., Xero) will be advantageous, but not required
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce accurate work
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
* Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
* Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
* Good verbal and written communication skills
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team
* Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
