Job Title: Senior Geotechnical Engineer for Mine Development and Production
This is a senior geotechnical engineer role that will be responsible for providing geotechnical support to ensure mine development and production activities remain at an acceptable level of risk from geotechnical hazards.
Key Responsibilities:
* Regular geotechnical inspections of working operations are crucial for ensuring the safety of personnel and equipment. These inspections should be carried out in accordance with established protocols and procedures.
* The creation, maintenance, and review of Ground Control Management Plans for each operation are essential for managing geotechnical risks.
* Ensuring adherence to Ground Control Management Plans is critical for maintaining a safe working environment.
* Monitoring and managing open pit and underground access stability is necessary for preventing accidents and injuries.
* Providing geotechnical information to and liaising with other personnel is important for ensuring optimal extraction of ore while conforming to legislated geotechnical requirements.
* Maintaining ground awareness among operators and staff through regular training sessions is vital for reducing the risk of accidents and injuries.
* Evaluating the geotechnical feasibility of open pit and underground designs is a critical aspect of this role.
* Maintaining strong working relationships between technical and operational staff is essential for effective communication and collaboration.
* Training, supervising, and mentoring junior engineers is important for their career development and growth.
Requirements:
* A minimum of 5 years' post-graduate experience in a similar role is required.
* Relevant degree from a recognized tertiary institution is mandatory.
* Experience with Surpac mining software is desirable.
* Affiliation to a Professional Body/Organization (e.g. AusIMM/AIG) is also desirable.
