Consultant Obstetrics & Gynaecology

Barossa Hills Fleurieu Local Health Network – Gawler

Total Indicative Remuneration: MD2- $355,428 - $563,206 per annum (pro rata)

Multiple Opportunities – Full-time, Part-time, Ongoing

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Obstetrics and Gynaecology Clinicians to join the team at Gawler Health Service, delivering high‐quality care across antenatal clinics, labour ward support, postnatal inpatient care and selected gynaecology procedures. The role includes participation in the on‐call roster with after‐hours support to the labour ward, as well as contributing to neonatal care in line with training and service capability.

In addition to clinical responsibilities, you will play an active role in teaching and supervising junior medical staff and students, while contributing to quality improvement and safety initiatives and hospital committees across the network.

Responsibilities

* Deliver comprehensive medical services in Obstetrics and Gynaecology, including consultations, outpatient clinics, inpatient care, minor procedures and after‐hours on‐call support.
* Lead and supervise clinical teams, including trainee medical officers, to ensure safe, effective and collaborative patient care.
* Participate in teaching, training and research activities, supporting the development of medical and allied health staff.
* Contribute to quality and safety initiatives, risk management and continuous improvement of clinical services.
* Assist in administrative and operational functions, including documentation, discharge summaries, referrals, committee participation and resource management.

Candidate Criteria

* Committed to delivering high‐quality, patient‐focused care across obstetrics and gynaecology, including outpatient clinics, inpatient care and after‐hours emergency services.
* Passionate about providing clinical leadership and support, supervising and mentoring trainee medical officers, medical students and other health professionals.
* Actively supports quality improvement, patient safety initiatives and risk management within the clinical environment.
* Committed to undertaking research, teaching and supporting training programmes to advance professional knowledge and the development of the unit.
* Upholds professional standards in documentation, confidentiality and adherence to hospital policies, while fostering effective teamwork and community engagement.

Qualifications

* Bachelor of Medicine; Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) or equivalent.
* Fellowship of the Royal Australasian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) or equivalent.
* Or Fellowship of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners and/or Fellowship of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine and/or vocational recognition as a GP, with significant GP obstetric skills and successful completion of training statement from RANZCOG including attainment of Diploma of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (Advanced).
* Current CPD (or ability to obtain) in line with SA Health Perinatal Emergency Education Strategy 2021 requirements.

Essential Requirements

* Must be immunised. For immunisation details refer to the occupational assessment, screening and vaccination policy.
* Must undergo employment screening.
