Department:HealthLocation:Launceston General Hospital, Surgery LGH, North TasmaniaAward / Classification Medical Practitioners Agreement 2022, Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1‐11Employment Type Fixed‐term, full‐timeRegion NorthResponsibilitiesProvide direction for the Department of Surgery and Perioperative Services, including financial responsibility and maintenance of teaching and research.Manage the postgraduate medical education and training program and pre‐vocational workforce, ensuring compliance with the Australian Medical Council (AMC) and the Postgraduate Medical Education Council of Tasmania (PMCT).Give guidance and support to the junior medical workforce of Launceston General Hospital.Facilitate training and education sessions in accordance with Accreditation Standards.Oversee the management of Surgical Services, ensuring efficient and effective surgical service delivery in operating rooms, day procedure unit, and outpatient clinics.Maintain accreditation in surgical disciplines with the relevant Medical Colleges.Ensure inter‐ and intra‐departmental communication and partnership to optimize patient care.Manage all physical, financial, and human resources within Surgical Services.Lead performance, development, supervision, and education portfolios for medical staff within the Department of Surgery.Participate in statewide strategic planning committees, such as the Tasmanian Statewide Surgical Services Network Committee.Adhere to safety and quality programs in line with the National Safety and Quality Health Service (NSQHS) Standards.Contribute to the planning of ongoing and future surgical services across the Northern area.Qualifications and ExperienceSpecialist or limited registration with the Medical Board of Australia in a relevant specialty.Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of Surgeons.Demonstrated experience in surgical service management or equivalent senior medical leadership role.Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage complex clinical and administrative responsibilities.Appointment DetailsFixed‐term, full‐time, day worker position; up to 76 hours per fortnight.Commencing as soon as possible for a three‐year period (hours to be negotiated with successful applicant).Remuneration and Benefits Salary:Specialist Medical Practitioner Level 1 – Senior Specialist Levels 2‐3, AUD $216,300 – $310,389 per annum (pro‐rata) + 12% superannuation.
