Your impact
Reporting to the Lead, Learning, Global, and as part of Newmont's Leadership Development & Learning team, in the position of Advisor, Technical Writer you will develop, maintain and govern technical training and operational documentation across Newmont's regional mine operation sites to ensure clarity, consistency and compliance with Newmont's global training standards and core Learning Management Systems.
As part of our team you will
* Create, revise, and maintain technical training materials including standard operating procedures (SOPs), safe work procedures (SWPs) and competency assessments aligned with global templates and governance
* Collaborate with subject matter experts and site trainers to document accurate and current work practices
* Ensure all training documentation meets legal, regulatory and Newmont standards for quality and readability
* Support migration and standardization of learning materials into the Learning Management Systems environment
* Facilitate reviews, approvals and updates following audits or change processes - i.e. management of change
* Provide guidance to site-based training teams on formatting, structure and document control practices
* Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline learning documentation processes
* Support integration of e-Learning materials and digital content where appropriate
* Maintain alignment with the Global Training Centre of Expertise to ensure standardisation and audit readiness.
Prerequisites for your success in the role
* Demonstrated experience in a site-based mine operation environment
* Knowledge of mine plant, equipment and process and related competency-based training and work procedures
* Knowledge of technical writing principles and proficiency in formatting and maintaining controlled documents including technical training materials, competency assessments, standard operating procedures, safe work procedures, etc
* Understanding of safety regulations and legislation applicable to the mining industry
* Skills in e-Learning and/or content authoring tools that support digital learning - i.e. Enable Now, Articulate.
Your work environment
This permanent full-time equivalent position will be offered on a flexible work arrangement and open to applicants currently living in Australia with full and unrestricted eligibility for employment in Australia. Occasional and irregular ad hoc travel to Newmont's regional sites and/or office locations will be required.
