The Rheumatology Department is a busy tertiary referral unit that services the Western Sydney Local Health District at Westmead, Blacktown, Mt Druitt, and Auburn Hospitals. It is a major teaching hospital affiliated with both Sydney University and Western Sydney University and provides teaching and research to students, junior doctors and advanced trainees.
This appointment is to cover maternity relief for the period 2 March 2026 to 2 November 2026.
Possess sound clinical knowledge in Rheumatology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
Demonstrated skills and attitudes appropriate for practice as a Senior Medical /Dental Practitioner including:
o High level interpersonal and communication skills.
o Demonstrated ability working within a multidisciplinary team.
o Experience and involvement in quality assurance activities and evidence-based best practice.
o Demonstrated commitment to teaching and supervision.
Familiarity with research concepts and commitment to be involved and support basic, applied, or clinical research within the Department.
Have recent prior clinical experience working in a tertiary hospital setting, especially in the use of targeted therapies for autoimmune inflammatory conditions.
Be available for the on-call roster.
Selection Criteria
§ Possess registration with the Medical Board of Australia and Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (FRACP) or equivalent as provided for in the Public Hospitals (Visiting Medical Officers Sessional Contracts) Determination 2014.
§ Have sound clinical knowledge in Rheumatology demonstrated through successful clinical practice in an environment appropriate to the requirements of the position.
