Indecare Disability Support worker
Indecare is a registered NDIS provider of Supported Accommodation for people living with a disability. Indecare is based on the Sunshine Coast at Sippy Downs and is looking for Permanent Casual Disability Support Workers to fill roles in our supported homes.
About the Role
Having experience in supporting clients with intellectual disability, dementia or clients in aged care would be highly regarded, however being caring, patient and willing to learn is essential. You should be able to build rapport, find common ground and develop a connection with participants who have difficulty with communication.
You will be assisting clients with their ADLs such as personal care, meals and general daily activities and routine.
Position Responsibilities
* Assistance with daily living tasks such as personal care, preparation of meals and other general household tasks.
* Respond to the client's needs
* Assist with the client's daily activities and routines
* Ensure all necessary documentation is complete and accurate
* Promote independence, give choice, encourage inclusiveness and respect the rights and privacy of an individual with a disability through planning and creating opportunities.
* Work within the NDIS Code of Conduct
* Work with the care team to ensure quality and continuity of care
* Provide Community Participation to residents by providing transport, assisting them on social outings, shopping etc
* Be proactive to continually educate yourself on the specific needs of participants and conditions.
You will need to have:
* the right to work in Australia and satisfy relevant legislation checks including vaccinations;
* National Disability Worker Screening Clearance, (or willing to obtain)
* relevant work experience;
* Current first aid and CPR certificate
* Current Drivers Licence with a clean and tidy reliable car
* a strong work ethic, a positive outlook and the ability to remain calm and professional while under pressure
* a caring and empathetic nature and be willing to learn
* Complete the NDIS worker orientation module
Desirable
* You may be currently in aged care or as an AIN and looking for a change, or may be studying a relevant Uni course
Indecare is a local Sunshine Coast based company. The Operations Manager has worked many years as a Registered Nurse and has extensive disability experience and is always available to support staff needs. We offer training to keep care individualised to the client.
Shifts
Have the capacity to work flexible hours on a roster system, including weekends, day and night shift with inactive overnight sleepovers.
Rate of Pay
Indecare pay is based on the Award Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award 2010 based on your qualifications and experience.
