About the Role
The role of a Developmental Therapist is to work collaboratively with students, teachers and families to facilitate optimal development and participation in education and daily life.
Within the framework of a supportive multidisciplinary team, the successful candidate will provide goal-directed intervention through evidence-based programs to promote the acquisition of essential skills.
Key responsibilities include:
* Regular consultation with teaching staff and parents regarding student progress
* Providing written and verbal assessments and recommendations as necessary
* Collaboration with teaching teams to develop occupation-based goals for classes
* Delivery of professional development to staff and external community stakeholders
* Maintenance and upgrading of therapy resources in conjunction with the multidisciplinary team
* Promotion of high-quality practice guided by evidence and sound clinical reasoning
* Maintenance of accurate and relevant file notes for individual students and performance of administrative duties
Essential outcomes of this role include sensory processing and self-regulation, fine and gross motor development, pre-writing and handwriting skills, keyboarding and computer skills, social safety, pretend play skills, work skills and future programs, community access and travel training, and social and emotional skills.
