THE COMPANY:
MAK Industrial Water Solutions is a national water and waste water treatment specialist. MAK Water designs and manufactures a wide range of water treatment plants, and supports its customers with a network of service teams across Australia.
We are an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) of water treatment plants, with a wide range of technologies, and a strong future order book for plants to be installed in Australia and overseas.
THE ROLE
As our Safety Officer, you will be the driving force behind the implementation and promotion of MAK Water's Occupational Health & Safety Plan. You'll work closely with management, employees, and stakeholders to ensure that our workplaces are not only compliant, but safe, supportive, and continuously improving.
This role is working full time, predominantly Monday to Friday.
Reporting to the Safety Manager, core duties include:
* Support and drive compliance with HSEQ policies, procedures, and legislative requirements
* Lead or assist in the investigation of incidents, near misses, and injuries
* Conduct internal audits and contribute to corrective and preventive actions
* Provide input into continuous improvement initiatives and safety training needs
* Collaborate with management to establish and maintain safety benchmarks
* Monitor non-conformances and support effective resolution
* Assist in reviewing systems and processes to ensure ongoing legal compliance
SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS
The successful candidate will be willing to learn and grow in an expanding company, taking on new challenges. You will also:
* Tertiary qualification in health and safety
* Investigator training and/or auditing certification
* Solid understanding of safety systems, standards, and ISO requirements
* Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
* Proficiency in risk assessment and root cause analysis
* Experience working with HSEQ systems and compliance monitoring
