We are partnering with a well-established mining operation in Emerald seeking an experienced Mine Site Accountant to join their on-site finance team. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with operations, delivering accurate financial reporting, proactive cost control, and supporting continuous business improvement across the site.
This is a hands-on accounting role, ideal for someone who enjoys being embedded on-site and partnering directly with operational leaders to influence commercial outcomes.
About the Role
Reporting to the Finance Superintendent, you will support all key site finance activities, including budgeting, forecasting, month-end reporting, and financial analysis. You'll act as a trusted business partner to department managers, helping them understand cost performance and drive accountability.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare inputs for monthly accounting and reporting processes
Produce site cost reports, analysis, and provide proactive cost management support
Partner with operational departments to facilitate cost meetings and follow up on variances
Support cost reduction initiatives, business improvement projects, and process optimisation
Assist with monthly forecasts, annual budgets, and performance reporting
Contribute to audit preparation and compliance activities
Support capital applications, capital spend forecasting, budgeting, and asset capitalisation
Assist with commercial training for stakeholders and provide broader finance support as required
About You
Minimum 2 years of experience in a mine site or operational accounting role
Accounting qualification or currently working towards CPA or CA
Strong analytical skills with high attention to detail
Ability to work autonomously and manage deadlines in a fast paced environment
Experience using SAP or other ERP systems
Strong problem solving skills with a continuous improvement mindset
Roster & Location
Monday to Friday, 9 day fortnight
Residential or DIDO preferred
FIFO considered for the right candidate
