Role Objective
The Dean is a key role that provides academic leadership to our team of academic staff. The Dean draws on their extensive experience to provide strategic direction and promote and develop academic excellence. They will manage the academic team and foster a positive and inclusive academic culture. The Dean will undertake some face‑to‑face teaching on campus and will work closely with the General Manager and Student Services Manager to provide academic leadership to ensure outstanding, teaching, and student experience outcomes.
Key Responsibilities / Accountabilities
* Serve as a key member of the senior management team, providing academic leadership and strategic direction for the IGI.
* Collaborate with faculty and staff to develop and implement innovative and effective educational programs and courses.
* Oversee academic operations, including timetabling, course delivery, academic quality assurance, and accreditation processes.
* Foster a positive and inclusive academic culture that promotes collaboration, diversity, and academic excellence.
* Engage with stakeholders to enhance student recruitment, retention, and success strategies.
* Develop and manage academic policies and procedures to support continuous improvement and compliance with regulatory standards.
* Actively participate in academic governance activities and reporting.
* Provide professional guidance, performance management and mentoring of academic staff.
* Actively participate in institutional strategic planning and initiatives that align with IGI’s mission and vision.
* Build and maintain relationships with external partners to support academic programs and enhance the reputation of the Institute.
* Lead the recruitment, selection, and onboarding of academic staff to ensure alignment with institutional strategy, regulatory standards, and academic quality requirements.
* Teach face‑to‑face classes as required.

* Successful track record of strategic leadership and management experience, including contribution to education policy, processes, and governance.
* Significant knowledge and skills in the areas of education and professional practice.
* Demonstrated experience in developing TEQSA course accreditation applications.
* Demonstrated experience in TEQSA provider re‑registration.
* Experience and evidence of strong learning and teaching management skills and knowledge.
* Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
* Proven track record of the ability to foster collaborative working relationships internally and externally.
