Resolve Recruit is partnering with a leading Commonwealth Government agency to engage a highly skilled Python Software Engineer (Django) specialising in full-stack development. This role sits within a major technology transformation program, offering the opportunity to design, build and maintain enterprise-scale applications that support essential government services.
You will work on a sophisticated Django-based platform, solving complex technical challenges across the full stack while contributing to secure, scalable and high-performing digital solutions. The role involves close collaboration within an Agile delivery environment and exposure to modern architectures, messaging platforms and DevOps practices.
As a Python Software Engineer (Django), you will be responsible for developing and maintaining applications from user interface through to backend services, designing robust REST APIs, integrating message queues and streaming platforms, and contributing to CI/CD pipelines that enable reliable and secure delivery in a government environment..
Key Responsibilities:
* Design, build and maintain Django-based applications across the full stack
* Develop, optimise and support REST APIs using Django REST Framework
* Integrate message queues and streaming platforms into event-driven architectures
* Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines to support continuous integration and deployment
* Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues across frontend, backend and database layers
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams using Agile methodologies and modern development tools
Key Experience and Skills:
* Strong proficiency in Python 3, with a minimum of five (5) years' experience in similar environments
* Solid, hands-on experience with Django and Django REST Framework, including ORM, models, migrations and MVC/MVT architecture
* Proven experience building and maintaining REST APIs and working with PostgreSQL or similar relational databases
* Experience working with message queues or streaming platforms (e.g. Apache Pulsar) and a sound understanding of asynchronous, event-driven architectures
* Strong debugging and problem-solving skills across the full application stack
* Experience using collaboration tools such as Git, issue tracking systems and wikis (e.g. GitLab, GitHub, Azure DevOps)
