Salary/Level: Level 4, $92,098 - $96,660 p.a. plus Superannuation

Tenure: 36 months Fixed-term, Full-time (with the possibility of extension)

Location: Geraldton or other location by negotiation, Western Australia

We are currently seeking a Project Officer, hosted with DBCA, to work in partnership with Nanda Aboriginal Corporation.

Under the general direction of the Joint Management Coordinator, this position:

* Supports directly the Nanda Aboriginal Corporation (NAC) to engage in joint management of the Nanda conservation estate with the department.
* Ensures meaningful stakeholder engagement for Nanda joint management by promoting a shared understanding on country and in the Nanda community, working within cultural intellectual property protocols and principles to develop strong communication tools and materials.
* Leads the planning and delivery of operations on country having regard for a respectful appreciation of cultural values and expectations as guided by the NAC.
* Enhances the development of the Nanda Ranger workforce through continued engagement with cultural programming and adaption of training, systems and resources.
* Contributes to Nanda joint management administration, governance and project management.

Day to day work for this role includes supporting Nanda joint management body (JMB) representatives to attend meetings and on-country trips (sometimes remote and / or overnight); coordinating and documenting JMB and working group meetings; communicating JMB outcomes to, and seeking input and feedback from NAC and the broader Nanda community; and providing administrative, logistical and operational support for Nanda Traditional Owners to lead and direct management of Nanda culture and heritage values on the conservation estate in partnership with DBCA.

The successful applicant will be required to possess or obtain a current Working with Children Check and a current and satisfactory National Police Check prior to commencement.

Selection Criteria

1. Evidence of well-developed oral communication and interpersonal skills and experience liaising with Traditional Owners; with a preference for someone with experience liaising in the context of joint management and / or Aboriginal involvement and development in the workforce.
2. Demonstrated ability and experience of working as part of a team, and independently and shows a high level of self-motivation and be able to work unsupervised in remote locations.
3. Demonstrated understanding of cultural heritage management; with a preference for someone with experience in or willingness to learn about biodiversity and recreation management in a conservation estate context.
4. Evidence of well-developed written skills, including the ability to use computer software to prepare concise and accurate reports, draft documents and correspondence.
