The Opportunity
We are seeking a Principal Power Electronics Control Engineer to lead the design and delivery of advanced control architecture and DSP firmware solutions across our high-power charger platforms.
This role exists to elevate control system performance, firmware robustness, and validation standards across both manufacturing and field‐deployed systems. You will act as the senior authority in control strategy, converter switching schemes, sensing, and protection algorithms, ensuring dynamic stability and production‐ready firmware at scale.
Based in Brisbane and reporting to the VP, Charger Technology, this is a hands‐on technical leadership role working closely with hardware, systems, validation, and manufacturing teams.
What you'll do
* Lead development of advanced control strategies and DSP firmware
* Own control architecture decisions and dynamic system performance outcomes
* Design and analyse control loops, plant response, and complex system models
* Direct regression testing, HIL testing, and validation strategies
* Analyse logs, interpret test data, and drive root‐cause resolution
* Ensure firmware robustness for production release and remote field updates
* Conduct design and laboratory reviews, mentoring engineers
* Contribute to R&D initiatives and intellectual property generation
What you bring
* Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems, or related discipline
* 10–15 years' experience in power electronics product development
* Experience remotely updating firmware in field‐deployed hardware systems
* Deep expertise in control loop design, converter topologies, and system dynamics
* Strong experience with simulation tools such as MATLAB/Simulink, PLECS or equivalent
* Demonstrated technical leadership and ability to influence cross‐functional teams
