Mid-level Business Analyst with a leading Government client (consulting through FinXL)

FinXL Professional Services is a leading IT consultancy that partners with clients to bridge the gap between business needs and technology capabilities. Since 2003, we've been delivering high-value ICT services across government, finance, telecommunications, and enterprise sectors.

FinXL is seeking a mid-level Business Analyst to join our consulting team and be deployed with a leading Government client on a 6+ months contract in Sydney. Candidates must be Australian citizens or PR.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and translate complex government policy and legislative changes into actionable functional requirements and user stories.
• Lead and facilitate key Agile ceremonies including daily stand-ups, sprint planning, retrospectives, and backlog grooming.
• Manage intricate project dependencies and facilitate smooth squad delivery within a fast-paced environment.
• Navigate a high-stakes stakeholder environment to bridge communication between legal, policy, technical, and senior leadership teams.
• Perform end-to-end business analysis including gap analysis and mapping "as-is" and "to-be" operational processes.

Key Skills & Experience

• Must be an Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident, have a birth certificate and be able to pass a baseline security clearance.
• 4-8 years of Business Analysis experience, preferably within a NSW Government or public sector context.
• Demonstrated experience acting as a Scrum Master or facilitating Agile squads, with relevant certifications highly regarded.
• Proven capability in translating legal, regulatory, or policy frameworks into operational blueprints.
• Strong stakeholder management and influencing skills across both technical teams and senior officials.
• Experience acting as a Product Owner or working closely with POs to shape product strategy is highly advantageous.

Engagement Details

• 6+ months contract with a Government client
• Hybrid working model with 2-3 days/ week in the office in Parramatta / Sydney Olympic Park.
