About the Role

We're looking for a caring, compassionate and patient volunteer to help our Lead English teacher teach a beginner‑level English class for a small group of women (57) from refugee backgrounds. These women attend the class with their young children (under 5), who will be looked after in a nearby playroom during the session. The focus of the class is on building practical, everyday English skills in a safe, welcoming, and culturally inclusive environment.


Key Responsibilities

* Help the Lead teacher deliver practical English lessons suitable for absolute beginners.
* Support learners in building confidence to use English in daily life (e.g., greetings, shopping, attending appointments, school‑related language).
* Foster an inclusive, respectful and encouraging learning space.
* Collaborate with staff or volunteers supporting the playroom, as needed.


What We're Looking For

* A friendly and supportive attitude, with a genuine interest in working with women from refugee backgrounds.
* Clear communication and the ability to adapt to different learning styles.
* Reliability and punctuality.
* Some teaching, tutoring, or group facilitation experience is helpful but not required .


Additional Details

* A Working with Children Check (WWCC) may be required (support can be provided to obtain this).
* A valid National Police Clearance Certificate or willing to obtain one.
* All teaching resources and support will be provided you wont be left on your own
* Youll be part of a welcoming and community‑focused team.
