Job Title: Environmental Planning Specialist
We are seeking an experienced environmental planning specialist to join our team.
* This is a full-time opportunity that requires the holder to work closely with various stakeholders, including Council departments and government authorities.
The successful applicant will have a strong understanding of organisational goals, legislative context, and development obligations. They will also have operational knowledge of statutory planning compliance, including providing advice without direct supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
* Monitor new and existing developments to ensure compliance with planning controls.
* Provide expert advice on complaints of non-compliance with the Planning Scheme or environment-related permit conditions.
* Advise internal and external stakeholders on Victoria's planning framework as it relates to stormwater management, vegetation, and biodiversity.
* Liaise with other Council Departments to achieve integrated environmental outcomes.
Requirements:
* Clear understanding of organisational goals, legislative context, and Hume's development obligations.
* Operational knowledge of statutory planning compliance, including providing advice without direct supervision.
* Specialist knowledge in land management, ecological restoration, and Construction Site Environmental Management Plans (CSEMPs).
* Understanding of Council departments and government authorities, with the ability to navigate inter-agency processes effectively.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and geospatial mapping software.
